May 2005 ATT welcomes the announcement of the offer by the Teacher Education Section (TES) of the Department of Education and Science (DES), in conjunction with the Second Level Support Service (SLSS) to reinstate funding to subject associations for ICD events. Working within the Subject Association Representative Group (SARG) ATT is contributing to the discussion on how the funding should be channeled to the subject associations. We are hopeful that arrangements will be in place for a resumption of ICD activities in the Autumn of 2005.

| 2 | May 2005 4 technology subject syllabi (Architectural Technology, Design & Communication Graphics, Engineering Technology, Technology, ) are awaiting implementation and have been waiting for several years. The new senior cycle subject, Technology, had its syllabus in place by the year 2000 yet it has still to be introduced to the classroom. Minister Hanafin has agreed to reinstate the 4 syllabi on the list of subjects to introduced to the curriculum. While this is good news it must still be a matter of concern that no definite date has been set for the launch of the new and revised syllabi.
